Creating a service line focused on maintenance, alongside those for new business, allows for building an entirely new revenue stream

A successful milliCare commercial floor cleaning franchise has two strong revenue streams: new client work and ongoing maintenance for clients already on the books. Now owners are able to generate an uptick on the maintenance side thanks to a growing line of protective care services, says Brian Morgan, Franchise Business Manager.

“I worked for a franchise for 10 years, and we found that we weren’t doing hard-surface work as often as carpet,” Morgan says. “So, we have developed a maintenance program that gets the franchise team back into those businesses more frequently for routine work that keeps those floors in top shape — and lets that franchise owner generate more billing.”

Protective care an upsell that works

Here’s how that works: After a hard-surface floor is cleaned and coated, it’s in good shape for at least a year. Rather than book an appointment for renewal a year out, now a milliCare team can schedule a visit once or twice before then for routine maintenance.

“They come in and make sure the coating is holding up and do some cleaning of areas that may have seen heavy traffic,” Morgan says. “That way the milliCare crew is around more frequently and has the chance to talk about our other services if this is a business that’s only getting floor work done. Every site visit becomes an upsell opportunity.”

Other services tie into protective care

Every milliCare commercial floor cleaning franchise offers an outstanding performance coating service for hard surfaces, often providing those to facilities that also need carpet maintenance. If a business has one or both of those services, protective care add-ons are natural opportunities, Morgan adds.

“That customer may also need our entryway protection services or something else we can offer,” he says. “That way, milliCare is doing several things for them, and that customer comes to value and depend on our service. That means more business from them, as well as good word-of-mouth advertising when their clients ask who handles their floor cleaning and maintenance. The goal is to tie everything we do in together, and then sell those services as a package, as well as single items.”
